Okay so I recently finished the two TV seasons of Haruhi Suzumiya, and I'm definitely going to watch the Disappearance movie sometime soon, but I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it (Except for Endless Eight). So I decided to check out this new show, and I actually really like it. Don't get me wrong, the animation and art is no KyoAni, and the story is generic rom com material, but it was pretty alright in my opinion. The main thing I cared about was maintaining some flair to the character chemistry, and they did. The quiet shy Nagato is really cute, though a bit to moe, but her relationship with Kyon is adorable. I know that a lot of people probably won't like this since it definitely isn't anything like Melancholy, but for what it is it's a well made creation. Not great or amazing, probably a 6/10 in my book, but a fun watch nonetheless. As of this first episode anyways. For all I know the next 15 episodes could be complete crap.

Oh man! Dissappearance is gonna be a real treat! Heard mixed reception for this spin-off, but i'm easy to please when it comes to Haruhi. Heck, I own all the translated novels.

Yep, Disappearance was really good. I was kind of worried near the end when they revealed the big Nagato twist and Kyon still decided to change the world back to normal. I was worried the movie was going to invalidate her problems, but they ended it perfectly. Kyon was sympathetic toward her and so was the writing, while making Kyon's decision seem just and reasonable. But yeah the movie was a great way to cap off the franchise. I'm kind of sad they didn't make another main series installment, but at least they ended it off on a high note.

They turned a light-hearted parody of the anime medium into one of its best character studies. Frankly it's the best story of the novels, though the most ambitious is the last 2 novels before it went on hiatus.

Oh yeah I heard about that. I still don't really understand why he went on hiatus, though that's probably because I've only recently gotten into this franchise.
